Rincon de la Vieja Park and Volcano
The legend of the volcano has its source in the numerous eruptions that have taken place until recently.
The name "Rincon de la Vieja" comes from a supposed matron who lived inside the mountain. When someone was about to visit her lands, it was said, to evoke this distant and inhospitable place, that he went to the corner of the old woman, .
Legend has it that in this corner lived the "Dabaiba", a fantastic being who according to beliefs lived inside a volcano, and to whom the Indians brought food because they feared her fiery eyes and tiger teeth. However, they let her down, when a bonesetter cast a curse on her. Some Indians say that old Dabaiba is up there drowning in a thick, hot, leaden mud that is bubbling noisily.

Smoke, boiling water and steam... You can witness all this volcanic activity and also visit a dry to humid, even very humid forest in just two hours.
"There are unique experiences that can only be had in this park, such as visiting the La Cangreja waterfall (known as the "Blue Lagoon" due to the characteristic color of the water), and hiking through the different environments with great views of the sea...
